In high-power fiber laser systems, the residual pump light will be transmitted in the outer cladding. It is not only ineffective but also can damage the devices and affect the stability of the system. The cladding light stripper (CPS) breaks the total internal reflection condition of the cladding light and makes the residual light leak by means of coating high-refractive-index materials or introducing surface roughness, without affecting the power and beam quality of the signal light in the fiber core.
